Adjusting your dose1

When you find the best number of sprays for you, aim to use this number each day - up to a maximum of 12. You can then spread your sprays out evenly over the whole day, in a way that suits you.

Remember to leave at least 15 minutes between sprays.

MS spasticity symptoms can often change over time, so after consultation with your doctor, you may decide it’s appropriate to change your dose of Sativex so that you continue to get relief. This will mean either:

  • Take a different number of sprays per day (up to a maximum of 12)
  • Take your sprays at different times of the day

Missing a spray1

If you forget to take a spray, don’t worry. Simply take your next spray as soon as you remember, or as soon as you feel you need it. You should then return to your normal dosing plan.

Don’t try to make up for the missed spray by taking two planned sprays together and always leave at least 15 minutes in-between sprays.

Taking too many sprays1

If you accidentally take more sprays than normal, you might:

  • See or hear things that aren’t there (hallucinations)
  • Feel dizzy, sleepy or confused
  • Feel your heart rate change

If any of these happen and they get serious, contact your doctor or nurse, or your nearest hospital. If you have to go to the hospital or the doctor, take any remaining medicine with you.

Storing your medicine1

Storing your medicine

Store unopened Sativex vials upright in a fridge. Once opened, Sativex vials can be stored outside a fridge for up to 42 days. However, don’t store it in a warm place such as in direct sunlight or near a radiator.

Always replace the protective cap after use.

If possible, return any empty or unfinished vials to a pharmacy for safe disposal.
